World Cup
The opening round of the Bouldering World Cup in the Chinese metropolis of Chongqing saw Anna Stöhr and Jakob Schubert seamlessly resume their series of successes from the previous season. At a spectacular final watched by several thousand spectators, Anna Stöhr launched her “World Cup title defense” project with a superb victory.

Jakob Schubert too, taking second place, made no secret of his own ambitions for a top ranking in the overall Bouldering World Cup. Momoka Oda (Mammut JAP) finished in an excellent second place behind Anna, also confirming the continuation of her previous year’s form.

A unique photo shoot on Cleopatra’s Needle

28 mountain guides climbing a rocky needle, turning it into what must surely be the biggest and most spectacular rock cactus in the Alps - Mammut was sure to have been involved. The man responsible for turning this project into reality was no less than Nikon Ambassador and extreme mountaineer Robert Bösch.

The Patagonian Winter Trilogy

Accompanied by Ralf Weber and Thomas Senf, on August 1, the Mammut pro mountaineer Stephan Siegrist completed an ascent of Cerro Stanhardt in Patagonia.

The Swiss trio scaled the most northerly peak of the Cerro Torre group in alpine style over the Exocet route. Siegrist is now the first alpinist ever to have climbed all three of the main summits in the Cerro Torre group in winter.

Pakistan’s Eternal Flame

David Lama Trango Tower

On July 30, at 4 pm local time, the Mammut pro, David Lama, stood together with Peter Ortner and Corey Rich on the summit of the 6,251 meter Nameless Tower in Pakistan, also known as Trango Tower.

Starting from the sun terrace, it took them ten hours to complete the Eternal Flame route, long considered to be one of the toughest routes over 5,000 meters. This route was opened by climbing legends, Wolfgang Güllich and Kurt Albert, in 1989. The ascent for Mammut’s anniversary project was documented by breathtaking photos and unprecedented film footage.
